India Post Launches Online Personalized Cheque Book Request Through Internet Banking | SB Order 08/2026
The Department of Posts has introduced a new online facility for requesting a Personalized Cheque Book (PCB) through Post Office Internet Banking, making banking services more convenient for Post Office Savings Account (POSA) customers. The new service is effective from 18 July 2026 and allows customers to apply for a personalized cheque book without visiting the post office.

What's New?
Earlier, customers had to visit a Post Office branch to submit a Personalized Cheque Book request. With the release of SB Order No. 08/2026, eligible customers can now submit their requests directly through Internet Banking (e-Banking).
The cheque book will contain the account holder's name pre-printed on each cheque leaf and will be delivered directly to the registered address of the primary account holder.
Effective Date
18 July 2026
The online Personalized Cheque Book request facility became operational from 18.07.2026.
Eligibility
To use this facility, customers must have:
A Post Office Savings Account (POSA)
Active Internet Banking (e-Banking)
User ID and Login Password
Registered mobile number
How to Apply for a Personalized Cheque Book Online
Follow these simple steps:
Login to Post Office Internet Banking.
Go to General Services → Service Requests → New Requests.
Select Personalized Cheque Book Request.
Choose Request Cheque Book.
Select your Savings Account.
Number of cheque leaves is automatically set to 10.
Read and accept the Terms & Conditions.
Click Submit Online.
Verify the displayed account details.
Enter the Transaction Password.
Submit the request.
A Reference ID (Cyber Receipt) will be generated for future reference.
Cheque Book Charges
The Department of Posts has prescribed the following charges:
✅ First 10 cheque leaves in a calendar year – FREE
✅ Beyond 10 cheque leaves – ₹2 per cheque leaf
If applicable, the charges will be automatically deducted from the selected Savings Account while placing the request.
Home Delivery
The Personalized Cheque Book will be:
Delivered to the registered address of the primary account holder.
Sent through Speed Post.
Customers can track the dispatch using the Speed Post article number displayed in Internet Banking.
How to Check Personalized Cheque Book Status
Customers can track the status online by following these steps:
Login to Internet Banking.
Navigate to General Services → Service Requests → New Requests.
Select Personalized Cheque Book Request.
Choose PCB Status Inquiry.
Select the Savings Account.
Enter or select the Request Date.
View the request details.
The system displays:
Savings Account Number
Beginning Cheque Number
Number of Cheque Leaves
Cheque Status
Dispatch Date
Speed Post Tracking Number
Cheque Status Explained
The system shows one of the following statuses:
VERIFIED – The request has been verified and is awaiting cheque book printing.
COMPLETED – The cheque book has been printed, dispatched, and is on its way.
