APT 2.0: NPS/SDBS Benefits Module Kept on Hold Pending GDS Section Clarification
The Centre for Excellence in Postal Technology (CEPT) has sought clarification and necessary directions regarding Project ID 244 – Issues related to NPS and Service Discharge Benefits (NPS-Lite) in the APT 2.0 application.
According to the D.O. letter dated 16 September 2026, the project, initiated on 16 January 2026, is presently kept on hold pending clarification from the GDS Section, Directorate.

Clarification Required on PRAN Mapping
The key clarification sought relates to the proposed business process for NPS/SDBS subscription recovery during salary generation when the employee's PRAN is not mapped or available.
Under the proposed process, subscription recovery would be permitted even without PRAN mapping. An SMS alert would be sent to the concerned employee, while employee-wise recovery reports would be made available irrespective of PRAN mapping.
A separate DDO report is also proposed to identify eligible SDBS/NPS/UPS employees whose PRAN is not available in the system.
SOP for PAOs Proposed
CEPT has further stated that an SOP for PAOs is required to prescribe the procedure for handling subscriptions recovered without PRAN and for their subsequent adjustment once the PRAN is mapped in APT.
Project Implementation Awaiting Decision
CEPT has highlighted that the pending clarification and approval are essential because implementation of the remaining requirements and functionalities under Project ID 244 depends upon finalisation of the business process and corresponding instructions.
The letter also records that CEPT first sought clarification through email on 25 March 2026, following discussions with the GDS Section. A reminder was subsequently sent through PMD on 12 August 2026.
The matter has now been submitted to DDG Establishment, Dak Bhawan, New Delhi, for consideration and necessary directions.
The clarification is expected to pave the way for further development and implementation of the NPS/SDBS-related functionalities in APT 2.0.
